Wild Goose Farm CSA
Community Supported Agriculture (or CSA) brings together farmers and members to share the adventure of a season of farming and eating locally. A CSA is much like a subscription program where CSA members pay a fee at the in winter or early spring. In return members will receive a weekly box of vegetables, a “share” of the farm, once the season starts in early June.
Our CSA program is a wonderful way for us to build closer relationships with our customers and provides us with a dependable income. In exchange we commit to filling a box with tasty, locally grown, organic produce. This is also a great way for people to reconnect with their food and learn how and where it is grown.
There is always a risk in any adventure and farming is no exception! We never know what the season may bring. Each year there is something that grows incredibly well and something that doesn’t. You can be confident that no matter what we will provide you with a full box of wonderful produce. You will always get the best of what we have to offer.
Our season runs for 20 weeks. Between June and mid October, members receive a “share” of the harvest in the form of a weekly box of fresh produce. Our produce boxes are 5/9 bushel, which is equivalent to a full paper grocery bag. Shares are picked up at our farmers market stand in Libertyville or from host sites in Grayslake and West Chicago. You are welcome to join up with a friend and share a box. Work shares are also available for those willing to work in exchange for their share. The work is
Building community is one of our core values at Wild Goose Farm. One way we do that is through our weekly newsletter. The newsletter is a place for sharing stories, storage tips, tasty recipes and news from the farm.
We also want to invite our members to join us in farm workdays and festivals. A couple of the events that we are planning for the coming season include spring workdays and a fall harvest festival. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering at the farm either occasionally or on a regular basis.
What’s in a Box
Throughout the season each box contains 8-10 different vegetables. The vegetables will reflect what is in season on the farm. Each weeks’ box is approximately 5/9 bushel, which is equivalent to a full paper grocery bag. If this is too much for your house to eat in a week, please feel free to sign-up with a friend or neighbor and split your share. You will be responsible for dividing up each week’s contents yourself.
